Beauty can be seen in all things

Hard to believe the May long weekend has been here and gone already.  The days are flying by but I feel like I am never any more ahead.   Had a lovely visit with my Mum.  She arrived on Saturday and stayed until Tuesday afternoon.  Peggy and Sam were here for a visit on Monday evening.

Mom and I did lots of touring around the valley.  I dragged my camera with me and took a few shots here and there.   We managed to cover some of the North mountain and pictures of  Black Rock and HarbourVille, Margaretsville, and a few places in between and around.  I don’t even know where we were at some points.  I love just driving and  taking any road that might show something interesting.

Today would have been my grandmother’s birthday.  Happy Birthday to you and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about you.  Miss you always <3

The ditch along this country road was filled with these little white flowers. They looked like a type of phlox but I am not sure.

Look into my eyes……….

I am looking for your ideas on captions for a picture I took yesterday of my daughter Janna,  and our dog Miki.  I am not really sure what was transpiring but it was fun to make things up!

Some replies that I got from friends on facebook are:

“You’re in MY spot”

“As the staring contest entered its fourth hour, spectator betting shifted from who would blink first to who would need to go walkies first.”

“Dog whisperer?…or human whisperer?”

“look into my eyes, you’re getting sleepy, sleepy. You will now grill me a steak. You will never give me dog food again”.

“Excuse me Miss, you didn’t leave the seat up again…”

“I know your my Puppy.. but you look like I’m your supper!!

“Janna, sweetheart, there are RULES…!”…

“Who’s my human, who’s my human…your such a good human!”

“Pick up that damn apple core off the couch, Janna”

“Look into my eyes… you Will take me outside.”

“What do you mean its diet food?”

“Move… No you move…. No you…. no you move, I’m waiting……..”

“Mommy can I go out to play? xoxo

“Hey punk what you looking at?

”I said wok, not walk!”

“I wonder who is going to win that stare down”

“I believe tomorrow is a school day Miss Janna!”

Laundry is the only thing that should be separated by color.

It was a gray, rainy, windy, blah kind of day at my house today.  What a great day to do laundry!!!!  I did have help … kinda……………………

First helping me was Miki. He was enjoying his freshly washed blanket and being “Watch” dog!

Next was Patch and Austin Meowers. My quilt was a still a bit damp so they were holding it down, and keeping it safe while it dried. Sweet of them!!

Ace was letting me know the green blanket smelled GREAT! I know this because of the way his face buried into it.

Lily was checking to see if there was anything on Janna’s floor or under her bed.

And these two little furbits of cuteness?? Well, they were showing me which dresser drawer to put things in.

Thank you my furry friends!!!

Since I can remember I have enjoyed taking pictures.  People are not always happy when I show up with my camera in my hand, but I love being able to capture the moment and then reminisce about it down the road.  Now that the digital camera is here, so practical and convenient, sometimes I miss having that hard copy picture in my hand.  Doesn’t mean I’d ever give up my digital camera because I LOVE it!!!!  Yes, I realize I can have prints made, but it just doesn’t seem to happen. Call me slack!  And yes, I know how fabulous it is to be able to edit pictures or delete the duds right away.    How many of you remember finishing off a film and then being excited to get the pictures back?  Sometimes even forgetting what had caught your eye or was even worthy of being captured on that 35mm film to begin with!  How many of you have tided up or moving and totally forgot to get a film developed, and found it floating around in your “junk” drawer?  I am guilty of that, in fact I think I found one not long ago.  I am not even sure if it is mine, my husbands or my daughters :)

Anyway, thought I’d share a few of my favorites over the last few months.

Families are like fudge – mostly sweet with a few nuts.

It was a wonderful weekend.  Weather was mild and NO rain so I’d say it was a perfect spring weather weekend.

My sister-in-law  had an 80th birthday party at her house in New Glasgow for her Mother.  Derek, Janna and I had a nice relaxed drive up in the afternoon, and arrived around two’ish. The food, the company, the conversation was fabulous!  I love HUGE family get togethers; and even better was that it was such a happy occasion.  I really wish we could do it more often.

To easily things get put on the back burner and then, sadly,  the reunion is for a funeral.  I don’t think I have ever been to a funeral when I haven’t over heard someone say, “We really all should to get together soon for happy occasion.  Then life goes on, people get busy, and there it goes, ONTO THE BACK BURNER once again and it never happens.  I find this very sad.  Maybe I am one of the strange ones out there, but I LOVE my family, I LOVE to spend time with them and keeping contact.  Everyone of them is very important to me, and has influenced me in one way or another.  I hope we can do a Wilson gathering sometime this summer.

After leaving Cathy’s we drove to Acropole for some GOOD old Pictou County pizza!!!  Low and behold there were some friends and my family member standing on the side of the road that I haven’t seen since last summer.  Perfect timing because I got to see a few people from my side of the family too.

PS:  The pizza made it all the way back to Berwick this time too :)

Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family.  Most of us would give our own life for the survival of a family member, yet we lead our daily life too often as if we take our family for granted.  ~Paul Pearshall

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad

Today would have been my Mom & Dad’s 49th wedding anniversary.   Even though my Dad is not here to physically spend it with Mum, I am 100 percent sure he is spiritually with her celebrating this important day.  Dad’s spirit is still strong in my life every day so I have no doubt that they would, if they could,  be celebrating side by side.

I moved to Ontario in 1988.  Mum and Dad’s 25th anniversary was coming up and I decided to fly home and surprise them.  I thought it would be such fun to “Just Walk In” and SURPRISE, without telling anyone I was coming.  Plans were made, die was cast and sealed.  I was so excited, not to mention terrified, since it was my first time flying!!  I showed up at the Church hall and poor Dad looked like he’d seen a ghost.  I swear he couldn’t even talk  for an hour.  Maybe slight exaggeration on my part,

Mum with her girls

but sure seemed like it, and I kept saying “Are you okay?”, and he’d respond with “Brat”!  He eventually said to me with glassy eyes, “Please don’t do that to me on our 50th anniversary, my heart wouldn’t take it.”  After that he’d just look at me and shake his head and smile and say the occasional “Brat!”. I wish I could do that today and see you both standing side by side, and I am very grateful that I did it when I could.

I Love you Mum!!
